The creator of Calvin and Hobbes, Bill Watterson, never licensed any of his characters for anything - so there are no mugs, no stuffed characters etc… This tutorial from Instructables here makes it really clear that there is lots of hand stitching, but Hobbes is made out of easy and inexpensive fleece.

Finally watched American Beauty
